"Auntie Ka!!"

She may be 24, by that's what my lovely niece Emma has called me since she was little, and it's what she yelled at me the minute she arrived for a visit last week. We got chatting, and she'd completely forgotten about the time she'd gone on holiday, sat for a hair-wrap, only to have the braid fall out and leave her with a giant bald spot. Awful for her, of course, but brilliant for me (hee, hee!) – I used it as a plot-line in my first Indie Kidd book, 'How To Be Good(ish)'!
Sadly, Emma's back up in Aberdeen now (sniff), and I'm back to work – on new ideas (hurray!).
Lots of loveness,
Auntie Ka(ren McCombie :c)

Talk to me

Way better than Shakespeare!!

The 'Ally's World' series of books are the best books I have ever read :)
You are an amazing author (way better than Shakespeare who I'm currently studying for GCSE English). Your style of writing inspires me and now I've decided to write a proper story (wish me luck!), though I can't help but write in a similar style to yours (hope you don't mind!).
A big thank you (for writing 'Ally's World' in the first place) and please write more! :)

I Spy A (Not-So) White Lie

I spied this 'Indie Kidd' book at school at a recent book fair. What happened to Indie with the new girl is EXACTLY what happened to me last year! So I want to say...
a) wow for a fab and funny and truthful book, and
b) sorry I can't say my name or everyone will know who me (and MY new girl) were...
